Jacket Hack (2025)
“Jacket Hack” began post production while it was still being shot. The shoot lasted three non-concurrent days, so editing began with a scene by scene approach, followed by flowing everything into a cohesive narrative, working closely with the storyboards, shot list, and script.
This method led to better scheduling on production days to include re-shoots, saving time and money overall.
This was followed by a pass for narrative clarity, VFX, and the color and speed treatment to create the dated style of the film.
One trick with editing Jacket Hack was finding the balance between the emulated style of the silent film era and pacing for the 2020’s (a hundred year leap!).
One Hell Of A Night (2024)
“One Hell Of A Night” came with it’s own set of problems: enthusiastic new filmmakers unfamiliar with post production best practices.
A big part of cutting this together was finding a good rhythm with the dialogue, to keep the footage engaging, while balancing that with quality sound and the right takes.
It was a priority for the producer to keep as much dialogue as possible, while streamlining the short for quick play to elevate his script, making it intriguing to production companies.
Recast (2023)
Cutting ‘Recast’ required a lot of attention to both comedic timing, technical skills, and fast-paced action.
Here we tried to emulate color changes to bring the insidious ‘sitcom’ vibe into the horror sections and a flat but warm tone for the ‘real world’.
While the flashiest bit of editing and sound design comes with the mushroom trip sequence, subtler but more important things like compositing the photograph of the two roommates took the most time and attention.
This was a one day shoot, so everything we had was what we had to work with.
ALONE (2022)
Alone was an experiment to see if I could make a film for as little money as possible.
To me the highlight of this edit is the mirror compositing! I am still proud of it to this day.
The pace and making what footage we had work as hard as possible was my overall goal with this cut. Probably not the best portfolio piece, but it holds a special place in my heart as it took overcoming some very difficult technical hurdles to finish.
